I saw this morning piece from Anderson Cooper about a North Carolina preacher who was preaching hate of gays and lesbians and queers. This antichrist calls for the segregation of members of the LGBT community behind electrified fenced compounds, not unlike the concentration camps where the Nazis…
Today is the International Day Against Homophobia. Let’s use it to fight against heterosexism, transphobia, cissexism, and all other forms of oppression.
TT^TT *cried alone*
Ahhhh… This is so sweet…
oh no oh no oh no oh no ;__;

“Our house was small, and when you grow up with domestic violence in a confined space you learn to gauge, very precisely, the temperature of situations. I knew exactly when the shouting was done and a hand was about to be raised – I also knew exactly when to insert a small body between the fist and her face, a skill no child should ever have to learn. Curiously, I never felt fear for myself and he never struck me, an odd moral imposition that would not allow him to strike a child. The situation was barely tolerable: I witnessed terrible things, which I knew were wrong, but there was nowhere to go for help. Worse, there were those who condoned the abuse. I heard police or ambulancemen, standing in our house, say, “She must have provoked him,” or, “Mrs Stewart, it takes two to make a fight.” They had no idea. The truth is my mother did nothing to deserve the violence she endured. She did not provoke my father, and even if she had, violence is an unacceptable way of dealing with conflict. Violence is a choice a man makes and he alone is responsible for it.”

Oh look, Captain Picard is a boss in pretty much everything.
Olivia Penpraze.
19 years old.
Died from a Suicide attempt that left her brain dead. Her parents made the hardest decision of their lives by turning off her life support.
She had a Tumblr account with over 900 posts sharing her emotional turmoil, dealings with depression, loneliness & thoughts about her wanting to take her own life.
The only response she got, was insensitive assholes, like the majority of people on Tumblr, encouraging her to do it. She was bullied consistently.
Olivia attempted to kill herself every year in May 1st since 2008.In May 2012, her short life came to an end.
I know most people can’t tolerate posts like Olivia’s, whom find it attention seeking.
My point to you people is…EXACTLY!!
Of course it’s attention seeking what else it?! People share that part of themselves over the Internet because they obviously feel they can’t talk to anyone they know nor do they think anyone would care.
All I want is for people to cut out the bullying & talk to people like Olivia.
A conversation to someone in desperation could save their life.If people can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.
You never know…
What you say could be used to decide whether they live or die.
This is heartbreaking
As I said, I’ve been going through an evolution on this issue. I’ve always been adamant that gay and lesbian Americans should be treated fairly and equally. And that’s why, in addition to everything we’ve done in this administration — rolling back Don’t Ask Don’t Tell so that outstanding Americans can serve our country; whether it’s no longer defending the Defense (of) Marriage Act, which tried to federalize what has historically state law — I’ve stood on the side of broader equality for the LGBT community.
And I’d hesitated on gay marriage because, in part, I thought civil unions would be sufficient, that that was something that would give people hospital visitation rights and other elements that we take for granted. And I was sensitive to the fact that, for a lot of people, the word ‘marriage’ is something that evokes very powerful traditions, religious beliefs, and so forth.
But I have to tell you that over the course of several years, as I talked to friends and family and neighbors, when I think about members of my own staff who are in incredibly committed, monogamous relationships, same-sex relationships, who are raising kids together; when I think about those soldiers or airmen or Marines, sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf, and yet feel constrained even now that Don’t Ask Don’t Tell is gone, because they’re not able to commit themselves in a marriage — at a certain point, I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that same-sex couples should be able to get married.

JC Penny has recently created the ad seen above for Mother’s Day to be viewed in their May catalog, which features two women posing as a couple with a daughter. The company is now under attack by the anti-gay group One Million Moms, who want JC Penny to pull the ad and are threatening a boycott if the ad is not pulled.
This is the same group that came after the company back in February for selecting Ellen DeGeneres as a spokesperson. In that incident, JC Penny stuck by their decision and didn’t give into the attacks.
Please help spread the word about this. A petition was started to keep the ad. You can view it here.
Oh, and by the way, the woman who started the petition was raised by a lesbian couple and grew up into a well adjusted person who currently has a husband and child of her own. Proof that being raised by LGBTQ parents doesn’t mess a child up or turn them gay and that One Million Moms is full of shit.
