Outcast, Disenfranchised, Marginalized, OPPRESSED
Reversal

When we tell people that God is love, that the Gospel is about love then go on to hate others we make a mockery out of our spoken message by our actions. When there is a conflict between what we say and what we do observers will always rely on what we do for what is true to us.

Let’s turn this around for a second. Let’s say I have a message of hate, but go about doing good for people, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, housing the homeless, giving comfort to those in prison and hospitals. Let’s say that I stand-up for oppressed people, fighting for their cause, for their inclusion and equality. Are you going to believe that I believe my message of hate? Let’s say that you accuse me of being a hypocrite and I respond that my seemingly loving actions are really hate, I do these things because I really hate these people. No matter how passionately I speak it, you are not likely to believe me in light of my actions, actions of love. Even when I tell you that you really don’t understand hate, that you have a common, but false understanding of hate. You will not believe me, will not accept my message of hate.

Yet, isn’t this what many very vocal Christians ask of people? They preach love and acceptance yet their actions are not loving. Then they tell them that they do not understand love, that God’s love is something other. Can we really blame people when the reject the message spoken in light of the true message of the action? Will God blame them? Not the one I believe in, not the God spoken of in the biblical texts. Not the God John tells us IS love.

Liquid nitrogen makes this really brittle and fragile.

Glass and ceramics are actually really resilient.

Great!

crown-of-weeds:

So, you know how I was raised in a cult? It bore a lot of similarities to this girl:

I grew up in an extremely religious home where women were encouraged to refuse an education and degree and have children and be homemakers. I left when I was 20 and have spent two years rounding out my education and working to save money so I can go to college. My parents refuse to support me or offer any assistance, including just signing my FAFSA.

If I were to finish college and get a degree, I would first help my 6 younger siblings (specifically the two girls) to also find a way out and get on their feet and go to school.

Then, I would love to create a safe-house where children of religious homeschooling families can come to improve their lives and future and have hope.
From struggling with poverty, to being unable to get a job without a resume or employment history, and often a substandard education; the children of the Quiverfull movement have extreme challenges to overcome. A home like this would be a safe platform for them to transition into the world without being abandoned to struggle. Many of their parents wish this difficulty for their children, saying it will cause them to return and be content with the party line. I want to create a buffer for the pain parents cause when they shun and disinherit their children for religious reasons.
Because there are more of us every day, and so much pain and heartache.

I know that this is possible and I know that my education and success will pave the way for me to help others.
That is how I want to change the world.

Guys. Please vote. Vote, reblog—for the love of G-D do not like this, reblog it so other people can SEE it—and help this girl get out and start saving other girls.

Westboro Baptist Church to picket ‘fag enabler’ Bruce Springsteen in Missouri (Found at Joe. My. God.; For a related post, click here http://christiannightmares.tumblr.com/post/628770411/westboro-baptist-church-to-picket-ronnie-james)

My fucking god. Oh the things I would say to those people if I was going to that concert…You don’t wanna mess with the die-hard fans who’ve been following Bruce since ‘73.

that’s probably gonna be hilarious omfg they are not gonna be in their element there

Lols I kinda can’t wait to see how this plays out.
Don’t fuck with The Boss.

My respect for Mr. Springsteen has increased greatly. My revulsion at this drivel from Fred Phelps and family (I will never, never call him Reverend. His brand of “pastoring” only serves to wound, maim, and polarize.)
How would the Phelpses like it, I wonder, if their “church” got picketed? No. I think I have an idea: they’d see it as vindication for spreading their hateful message, plaster YouTube with videos crowing about how they’re being “persecuted,” and harass people even more aggressively than they already do.
And once again, I find myself offering up the prayer: “Jesus save me from these folks that claim to follow you.”
And I extend this invitation to the Phelps family: please, come picket my church. I’m pretty sure the fact that I attend an Orthodox Christian church, where part of the service is sung in Arabic, would qualify it as what you so quaintly call a “fag church.” While I may not be as high-profile an enabler as Mr. Springsteen, I am also a “fag enabler,” to use your term. And I would like to hear you explain how harassing parishioners and putting up NSFC signs is carrying out the Lord’s work. Honest. Not to mention, exploiting your children and grandchildren in the process…
